Ruth grew up in the Manette neighborhood of Bremerton and never strayed far from it--due to her dedication to the history of the events and people who lived in and worked locally, she founded the Manette History Club. She combined her talents as a business woman, certified appraiser and local historian to own/operate several shops in Keyport and East Bremerton area.
